Dr. Shanthi Ramachandran (Dr. Rama) holds a Bachelor's degree in biology and neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude, as well as a Master's degree in Physiology and Biostatistics from Georgetown University. She received her Veterinary Medical Degree (VMD) from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ramachandran completed a competitive internship at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, MD where she developed a special interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and Pain Management. As a USDA accredited veterinarian, Dr. Ramachandran is licensed to issue international veterinary health certificates. Dr. Ramachandran is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. She is a participating veterinarian for the Golden Retriever Lifetime study lead by the Morris Animal Foundation. Native to Bethesda, Dr. Ramachandran attended Walt Whitman High School and worked as a technician at Alpine while in high school and college. She has grown to love the Alpine family and is happy to now serve them as the managing veterinarian. In her free time, she and family enjoy hiking on the Billy Goat trail, running, scuba diving, fine dining and travel. They love their mischievous dog Chaaya, a hound lab rescue. Chaaya accompanies Dr. Ramachandran to work every day and sleeps under her desk.
