Dr. Mariko Nakata

Dr. Mariko Nakata was born and raised in Japan and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Gifu University in 2012.

Before attending veterinary school, Dr. Nakata spent two years in Mozambique, Africa, where she volunteered in agriculture and animal health programs. After earning her veterinary degree, she further expanded her clinical experience by volunteering at a surgical veterinary clinic in Costa Rica, reinforcing her passion for animal health and welfare while gaining valuable hands-on experience in veterinary surgery.

After moving to the United States with her family, Dr. Nakata joined Alpine Veterinary Hospital as a veterinary technician. Over the years, she became a valued member of the Alpine team while pursuing the rigorous training and credentialing process required to continue practicing veterinary medicine in the United States. Her hard work and dedication culminated in successfully passing the AVMA board examination.

Today, Dr. Nakata is proud to continue her veterinary career at Alpine Veterinary Hospital. She is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care and building lasting relationships with pets and their families. Her unique international background, commitment to lifelong learning, and dedication to patient care make her a valued member of the Alpine team.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Nakata enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, traveling, camping, and watching movies. She shares her home with two beloved cats, Cowy and Mimige.
